Volunteer Information

The success of Parkway Little League depends on the many volunteers who donate their time to help keep Parkway a successful and effective community organization. The volunteer requirement  is an attempt to improve flexibility for families as well as ensure we have adequate coverage.

  • Concessions (Must be 16 years of age or older)
    • The concession stand it a critical component  of our organization and its success of providing revenue
  • Grounds Keeper
  • Cutting the grass on the fields
  • Kromer fields after games
  • Weed whipping
  • Miscellaneous tasks and projects

Opportunities to fulfill your volunteer hours will be posted on DIBS. Each family will have an account set up with DIBS once they register their child with PLL.  *Your username and password for DIBS will be the same username and password you used to register for the season.

You will have an opportunity to sign up for volunteer hours at anytime. An email will be sent out when an urgent need for volunteers arises.

Tournament sign-ups will be placed on the DIBS System when the brackets and game times are finalized for that tournament.  Upcoming home tournament dates will be listed under the Tournament tab.

Volunteer opportunities may be posted throughout the season and will be available on a first come basis. Once you choose a task, it will be your responsibility to complete that task at the time required. During your shift, please check in at the  concession stand. Not following these steps may result in your hours not being recorded.

The Parkway Board is open to considering additional activities to be counted as volunteer time to help in the operations of the Association. If you think you have a special skill or would like to contribute to the Association in a different way, please contact Kelli Johnson  with your idea. Not all ideas will work for the association, but we are more than willing to listen to ideas from our members to help better the program and experience for all players.

Committing to being a coach or team manager will fulfill your hours for the season.

DIBS

PLL uses the DIBS volunteer scheduling system. Please go to DIBS tabs to access the DIBS system. You will be asked to login in order to view and claim available volunteer opportunities. DO NOT SET UP A NEW DIBS USER ID AND PASSWORD! All families will be automatically downloaded into DIBS after registration. If you have forgotten the username or password that you used to register, you can click on the links on the login pages for password resets and username information. Any member of your family can perform tasks. Your volunteer hours are calculated on a family basis, not an individual basis.

Once you have logged into DIBS, you will be able to view volunteer opportunities that are open.

If you need to cancel a claimed shift, you must do so within 72 hours of the shift.

You are encouraged to select to receive notifications; this will notify you via email of your claimed item and will notify/remind you of your upcoming commitments.

Volunteer Tips

When you know a lot about baseball, it’s easy to commit to doing too much for a team. When you know nothing about baseball, it’s easy to shy away. But you’ll have more fun,  get to know more people and understand what’s going on if you volunteer for at least one activity, whether it’s managing a team or volunteering in the concession stand. As with everything else, it’s important to do what you say you’ll do-and do your best at that.

To be a good volunteer:

  • Schedule it: Take your volunteer commitments as seriously as your commitments-put them in your calendar and on your “to-do” list.

  • Go with your strengths

  • Get help; If your time commitments change ask for help. If you end up being out of town all the time for work, or you don’t have time, ask someone else to do it rather than skipping it.

  • Keep a positive attitude: If you volunteer for something, just do it without complaining. If you think of a better way to do it, discuss it with the association later.

Volunteering will make the experience more fun and more rewarding for you, your player and your whole family.
